Do I need an account?

Yes — GoDesk uses a magic-link email login (Supabase OTP). The account is what binds your devices, drives your tier limits, and lets us recover access if you lose a machine. No password to remember; the link arrives in your inbox.

Can I self-host?

Yes — the relay (rustdesk-server, hbbs + hbbr) is open source. Point your client at your own server in Settings → Network → Alternative servers. The auth account stays with our Supabase project on the free tier; self-hosted auth is on the roadmap.

How is this different from RustDesk?

GoDesk is a fork that adds account-aware tier limits, a redesigned Light Desktop UI (v0.14.2 — warm grayscale, monochrome accent, Inter/Inter Tight/JetBrains Mono typography), notarized macOS installers (Windows EV signing pending), multi-language coverage (12 locales on the site, 3 on the desktop client), and a polished onboarding flow. The core protocol is the same RustDesk one — we don't fork that, we contribute upstream where we can.

Will my data be encrypted?

Always. AES-256-GCM with X25519 + ED25519 key exchange. The relay sees only ciphertext — even on the free tier hosted at id.godeskflow.com.

Is GoDesk really free?

Yes — for up to 30 devices, 1 concurrent session, 5 GB of relay traffic per month. Most hobbyists and small workshops never leave the free tier. Paid tiers (Lite / Pro / Team) unblock device counts + relay quota for fleets.

Mobile clients?

Desktop is rock-solid on Windows, Mac, and Linux. Android and iOS clients are coming next; for now you can manage billing and your subscription on the web from any device.
